Chrome Extension for Cricket lovers

Alright, it's time to introduce you to my latest side project endeavor! With the Asia Cup 2023 recently concluded, the anticipation for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 is soaring high. But here's the challenge: How do you stay updated on match scores while you're at work or school? We all know and love platforms like Espncricinfo and Cricbuzz for their comprehensive cricket coverage, including resources, stats, and news. However, sometimes you just want a quick glance at the scores without leaving your main browser window. The last thing you want is to reach for your phone, disrupting your workflow.

As is customary for any curious developer, I embarked on a quest to find a ready-made solution. Perhaps a Chrome extension or plugin that offers a seamless way to check scores and news with a glance. To my surprise, the options available were limited, and most of them suffered from poor user interface design, resulting in a cluttered and unsatisfactory user experience. But, being a developer, I live by the mantra: when faced with an unsolved problem (or poorly solved one, for that matter), the solution is simple—I'll code my way out of it!

Meet 100mph! A quick-glance cricket scores/news Chrome extension! It took me a couple of weekends to code this, and publish it, and was so refreshing to work on some front-end stuff. Here's what it does:

πŸ’‘Live Cricket Scores - Never Miss a Ball
Imagine having live cricket scores at your fingertips, seamlessly integrated into your Chrome browser. With 100mph, you can track the progress of your favorite teams and players in real-time. No more endless tab-switching or app-hopping – everything you need is right there, just a click away.

πŸ’‘Cricket News - Stay Informed
Cricket is not just about scores; it's also about the stories behind the game. My extension curates the latest cricket news, bringing you headlines, match reports, and exclusive interviews. Stay informed about the latest developments in the cricketing world, all without leaving your browser.

πŸ’‘Dark Mode - Eyes at Ease
Late-night matches or just a preference for dark-themed interfaces? I've got you covered with our Dark Mode feature. Experience cricket in a visually comfortable and eye-friendly environment, no matter when you're following the game.

πŸ’‘Link to Full Scorecards and News - Dive Deeper
Sometimes, you crave more details – the full scorecard, in-depth analysis, or comprehensive news articles on espncricinfo.com. The extension offers quick links to access all of this with ease. Dive deeper into the stats and stories that matter most to you.

πŸ’‘Custom Filter for International Matches - Tailor Your Experience
Perhaps you're more interested in international matches than domestic ones. The custom filter allows you to personalize your feed, showing only the games that matter most to you. It's your cricket world – tailor it to your liking.

That's all about the features! What technologies I used?
  • React: React served as our frontend framework, providing the foundation for building dynamic user interfaces. Its component-based architecture made it easy to create modular and reusable elements, a crucial aspect when dealing with a diverse range of cricket data.
  • Webpack: Webpack played a pivotal role in bundling our code and assets efficiently. With multiple APIs and various assets to manage, Webpack's powerful configuration capabilities helped optimize our extension's performance.
